Call for Papers for the September Issue: AI, Climate Sustainability, and Environmental Transformation
Posted on 2026-05-07 09:00:08Climate Sustainability & Global Systems (CSGS) invites submissions for its regular September issue.
As artificial intelligence continues to develop rapidly, new opportunities are emerging to improve climate research, environmental monitoring, sustainability transitions, and global systems governance. At the same time, AI applications in climate and environmental research require methodological transparency, ethical responsibility, data integrity, reproducibility, and careful consideration of social, ecological, and policy implications.
For the September issue, CSGS particularly welcomes high-quality submissions that explore how responsible AI, environmental data science, modeling, and digital technologies can contribute to climate sustainability, environmental protection, resilience building, and systemic risk analysis.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• AI applications in climate modeling, Earth system analysis, and environmental prediction
• Machine learning for environmental monitoring, pollution assessment, and ecosystem protection
• AI-assisted approaches to climate risk assessment, adaptation planning, and resilience building
• Data-driven tools for carbon management, energy transitions, and sustainable infrastructure
• Responsible AI for sustainability governance, climate policy, and decision-making
• Remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and AI for land, water, biodiversity, and urban systems
• AI-based early warning systems for extreme weather, disasters, and systemic climate risks
• Socio-ecological impacts of AI-enabled climate and environmental technologies
• Equity, justice, transparency, and accountability in AI-driven sustainability solutions
• Interdisciplinary frameworks linking AI, climate science, sustainability transitions, and global governance
In addition to AI-related submissions, the journal continues to welcome manuscripts across its broader scope, including climate systems modeling, sustainability governance, global climate policy, socio-ecological resilience, climate-economy systems, and interdisciplinary methods and analytical frameworks.
CSGS welcomes original research articles, review articles, policy analysis papers, methods and frameworks papers, short communications, and data- or AI-focused reports that align with the journal’s aims and scope.
All submissions should present rigorous methods, clear academic English, transparent data and code practices where applicable, and strong relevance to climate sustainability and global systems. Authors using AI tools in text preparation, data processing, coding, modeling, visualization, or image generation must include an appropriate AI Use Statement in the manuscript. Data Availability, Funding, and Conflict of Interest statements are also required.
Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal’s official submission system. Authors are encouraged to review the Author Guidelines, Data Policy, AI & Research Integrity Policy, and Publication Ethics Requirements before submission.
