Special Issues

null

Special issues and themed collections in Rural Governance and Green Development bring together scholarship on a clearly defined question, emerging debate, or shared research problem. This category provides a dedicated route to published contributions associated with these collections.

Thematic focus

Collections should advance substantive understanding of rural governance, regional transformation, green development, and sustainable rural livelihoods. A strong theme connects the individual contributions through a coherent intellectual purpose while allowing different methods, perspectives, and sources of evidence.

Calls for papers and submissions

Consult the journal’s announcements for published calls, including the collection title, scope, article types, guest editors where applicable, deadlines, and any specific submission instructions. Submit through the journal submission portal, identify the collection in the cover letter or comments to the editor, and follow the call alongside the journal’s author guidelines. The call and applicable journal policy govern any publication charges or waiver arrangements.

Editorial assessment and peer review

Submissions are assessed for scope, originality, analytical quality, methodological and reporting standards, and research integrity. Guest editors, where appointed, coordinate the collection under the journal’s editorial oversight. Manuscripts selected for external assessment follow the journal’s normal peer-review process. A journal editor or another independent editor handles submissions involving a guest editor or a relevant conflict of interest. Final publication decisions remain with the journal’s authorised editors.

Proposing a collection

Researchers may contact [email protected] with a proposed title, rationale and contribution, thematic boundaries, intended readership, prospective editorial team and relevant expertise, indicative timetable, and a plan for attracting contributions. Identify editorial relationships or competing interests that may require independent handling. The editorial office will assess the proposal and agree the scope and responsibilities before a call is issued.

Published articles assigned to this category appear below. Open calls and submission deadlines are listed in the announcements; an empty article list means that no contributions have yet been published in this category.
