The journal's regular publication schedule is organised as follows:

Volume and Issue Organisation

Each calendar year constitutes one volume of FSSS, comprising four consecutively numbered regular issues. Articles are assigned to an appropriate issue following editorial acceptance and completion of the applicable review, copyediting, production, and author proof-approval processes.

The assignment of an accepted manuscript to a particular issue is determined through the journal's editorial and production processes. The publication schedule does not alter the requirement that manuscripts satisfy the editorial, ethical, and scholarly standards applicable to their respective article categories.

Special Issues and Supplementary Collections

FSSS may publish special issues or supplementary scholarly collections in addition to its four regular issues where academically justified. Such publications may address emerging research priorities, significant interdisciplinary challenges, or specialised themes within the journal's aims and scope.

Contributions to special issues and supplementary collections are subject to the same applicable editorial, research-integrity, publication-ethics, and peer-review requirements as regular submissions.
