Reference Style (APA)
Journal of Social Cognition and Communication follows the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th edition citation and referencing style. Authors should ensure that all sources cited in the text appear in the reference list and that all references listed are cited in the manuscript.
References must be arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author and formatted according to APA style guidelines. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all citations and references.
In-text citations should include the author’s surname and year of publication, for example: (Smith, 2020) or Smith (2020).
1. In-Text Citations
- Single author: (Smith, 2020)
- Two authors: (Smith & Brown, 2020)
- Three or more authors: (Garcia et al., 2020)
- Direct quotation: (Smith, 2020, p. 35)

8. Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
Authors should include DOIs for all references where available. DOIs should be presented in the format:

Check quotations against the source and provide page numbers or another appropriate locator. For datasets, software and online materials, give the information needed to identify the version and locate the item; consult the official APA Style guidance when a source does not fit the examples above.
9. Reference Accuracy
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all references cited in the manuscript are accurate and complete. References should include full bibliographic information and should correspond exactly to the in-text citations.
Incomplete, inconsistent, or incorrectly formatted references may delay the editorial process and require revision before the manuscript can proceed to review.
The use of DOIs and accurate referencing enhances the visibility, discoverability, and indexing of scholarly publications.
