2. Anonymisation Checklist

Before submission, authors must verify that their review manuscript and relevant supplementary materials do not disclose their identities.

• Remove author names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID identifiers, and other identifying details.
• Move acknowledgments, identifying funding information, and author-specific declarations to the separate title page.
• Avoid unnecessarily self-identifying expressions such as “in our previous study.” Cite relevant prior work objectively and according to APA 7th edition.
• Remove identifying information from file names, document properties, comments, tracked changes, and other metadata.
• Check figures, tables, appendices, repositories, hyperlinks, and supplementary materials for information that may reveal author identity.
• Where ethics approval information could reveal the institution, use an appropriately anonymised description in the review file and provide the complete information separately to the Editorial Office.

Anonymisation must not compromise research integrity, accurate citation, or essential methodological transparency. Authors should contact the Editorial Office where full disclosure is necessary for ethical, legal, or scholarly reasons.

3. Recommended File Names

The following file names are recommended to facilitate editorial processing. Authors may use equivalent descriptive file names that do not contain identifying information in files intended for review.

4. Manuscript Title

The manuscript title must be concise, informative, and representative of the research question, subject matter, or principal scholarly contribution. Titles should avoid unnecessary abbreviations, unsupported claims, and excessive technical terminology. The identical manuscript title must appear in both the blinded manuscript and the separate title page.

5. Title Page Requirements

The separate title page must provide the following information:

• Complete manuscript title.
• Full names of all authors.
• Institutional affiliation of each author.
• Corresponding author's name and email address.
• ORCID identifier for each author, where available.
• Author contribution statement, where applicable.
• Acknowledgments, including relevant non-author contributions.
• Funding statement, including a declaration where no external funding was received.
• Conflict of interest statement, including a declaration where no competing interests exist.
• Research ethics approval and informed consent information, where applicable.
• Information concerning AI-assisted tools, in accordance with the journal's mandatory disclosure requirements.

6. Abstract

Every submission must include an abstract appropriate to its manuscript type and designated journal section. The abstract must accurately summarise the research purpose, analytical or methodological approach, principal findings or arguments, and scholarly contribution.

Abstracts must correspond to the final submitted manuscript and the metadata entered in the journal's online submission system. Authors must follow applicable APA 7th edition conventions together with the journal's article-specific abstract requirements.

7. Keywords

Authors must provide 5–7 keywords that accurately describe the manuscript's central concepts, research field, methods, or subject matter. Keywords should be specific, searchable, and consistent with the terminology used in the article. The keywords entered in the submission system must correspond to those included in the manuscript.

8. Main Text Structure

The manuscript must present a coherent scholarly structure appropriate to its article type and research objectives. Authors must use consistent heading levels in accordance with APA 7th edition, while observing any additional journal-specific requirements.

Depending on the nature of the contribution, a manuscript may include:

• Introduction.
• Background or Literature Review.
• Theoretical Framework or Conceptual Approach.
• Methods, Materials, or Analytical Framework, where applicable.
• Findings, Analysis, or Discussion.
• Implications for AI, Ethics, Governance, and Society.
• Conclusion.

This outline is adaptable to empirical, theoretical, methodological, review-based, and critical scholarship. Authors must ensure that the selected organisation adequately supports the manuscript's research question, analytical approach, findings, and conclusions.

Authors must select the manuscript type appropriate to their contribution and comply with the applicable word limit.

An invitation to submit does not guarantee acceptance or exemption from the journal's editorial and peer-review requirements. All manuscript types must comply with APA 7th edition formatting.

10. Journal Sections

Authors must select the submission section most appropriate to the manuscript's subject matter and scholarly objectives.

11. References and Mandatory APA 7th Edition Style

Authors must satisfy the following requirements:

• In-text Citations: Use APA 7th edition author–date citations consistently throughout the manuscript. Direct quotations must include appropriate location information in accordance with APA requirements.
• Reference List: Include a complete reference list arranged and formatted according to APA 7th edition, using appropriate author names, publication dates, titles, source information, and other required bibliographic elements.
• Citation–Reference Consistency: Every recoverable work cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and every reference-list entry must correspond to an in-text citation, subject to applicable APA exceptions.
• DOIs and URLs: Include accurate DOIs and URLs where required by APA 7th edition. Available DOIs must be presented in the current hyperlink format, such as https://doi.org/..., rather than as an incomplete or unverified identifier.
• Bibliographic Accuracy: Verify that references correspond to genuine, accurately identified sources. Fabricated, unverifiable, or misleadingly attributed references are unacceptable.
• Tables, Figures, and Statistical Reporting: Apply relevant APA 7th edition conventions for table titles, figure captions, notes, symbols, statistical notation, and the presentation of quantitative findings.
• Consistency: Apply APA 7th edition consistently throughout the manuscript. Citation and reference formatting must not combine incompatible styles.

For Mini Reviews, approximately 25–50 references are generally appropriate. This is guidance rather than a fixed limit; the scope, relevance, and adequacy of the literature determine the appropriate number.

Authors must review their reference lists before submission. Manuscripts containing substantial APA formatting inconsistencies, incomplete references, or inaccurate citations may be returned for technical correction before further editorial assessment.

12. Figures and Tables

All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and presented according to applicable APA 7th edition formatting conventions. Authors must provide clear titles, captions, explanatory notes, and appropriate source acknowledgments.

• Use separate consecutive numbering for tables and figures.
• Ensure that table and figure titles, labels, notes, and statistical symbols conform to applicable APA 7th edition conventions.
• Refer to every table and figure appropriately within the manuscript text.
• Provide accurate source acknowledgments and obtain permission for third-party copyrighted material where required.
• Ensure that figures, tables, captions, and associated metadata do not identify authors in the blinded manuscript.
• For Mini Reviews, include no more than two tables and figures combined.

13. Ethics and Transparency Statements

Authors must provide the declarations required by the journal and the nature of their research. Applicable declarations include:

• Research ethics approval or institutional review board statement, where required.
• Informed consent statement, where applicable.
• Data availability statement for empirical research.
• Funding declaration, including a statement where no external funding was received.
• Conflict of interest declaration, including where there are no competing interests.
• Author contribution statement, where applicable.
• AI usage declaration and the mandatory AI Usage Disclosure Form, including where no AI-assisted tools were used.

Research involving human participants, sensitive data, medical or healthcare applications, or other ethically sensitive technologies must provide adequate ethics documentation, informed consent safeguards, privacy protections, and information concerning relevant institutional or legal compliance.

14. AI Tool Usage Disclosure

Authors must complete the journal's AI Usage Disclosure Form at submission. This requirement applies regardless of whether artificial intelligence tools were used. Where no AI-assisted tools were used, authors must indicate this in the declaration.

Where AI-assisted tools were used in research, analysis, writing, editing, translation, coding, image generation, visualisation, or other manuscript preparation activities, authors must identify the relevant tools and describe their purposes and extent of use. Appropriate disclosure must also appear in the manuscript where relevant.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Human authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, intellectual integrity, citations, supporting evidence, and ethical compliance of the submitted manuscript.

15. Data Availability

Empirical research manuscripts must include a data availability statement describing whether the underlying research data are publicly accessible, available upon reasonable request, subject to access restrictions, or unavailable for legitimate reasons.

Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to deposit supporting datasets, code, and other research materials in recognised repositories. Data sharing must comply with applicable privacy, research ethics, informed consent, intellectual property, and legal requirements. Authors must not disclose protected or confidential information merely to satisfy a transparency recommendation.

16. Language, Style, and Formatting

All manuscripts must be written in clear, accurate, formal academic English and must comply with APA 7th edition formatting requirements together with the journal's additional submission instructions.

• Use clear, inclusive, and academically appropriate language.
• Apply the APA 7th edition heading hierarchy consistently throughout the manuscript.
• Use APA 7th edition author–date citations and reference-list formatting without mixing incompatible citation systems.
• Follow applicable APA 7th edition conventions for quotations, tables, figures, statistical notation, abbreviations, and scholarly presentation.
• Check spelling, grammar, punctuation, academic terminology, and consistency of presentation before submission.
• Prepare the main manuscript and separate title page in Microsoft Word (DOCX) format.
• Remove identifying tracked changes, comments, document properties, and other metadata from files intended for double-anonymous review.

17. Submission Requirements

Submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work that has not been published previously and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal. Authors must disclose relevant preprints and related prior dissemination in accordance with the journal's publication policies.

Manuscripts must demonstrate scholarly rigour, originality, ethical transparency, and appropriate engagement with artificial intelligence and its societal implications. They must also meet the relevant article type, word limit, abstract, keyword, documentation, and APA 7th edition requirements.

All required files must be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Submission does not guarantee external peer review or publication, and the Editorial Office may request technical corrections or additional supporting documentation as necessary.
