Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submitting a manuscript to Health Nexus: Digital Health and Medical AI, authors must confirm that the submission complies with all applicable requirements below. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned for technical revision before editorial assessment.
- The submission is original, has not been formally published elsewhere, and is not currently under consideration by another journal.
- The manuscript falls within the journal’s aims and scope, and the appropriate article type has been selected.
- All authors have reviewed and approved the submitted version, agree to its submission, and satisfy the journal’s authorship requirements.
- A separate Title Page has been uploaded containing the manuscript title, author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers where available, corresponding-author details, author contributions, acknowledgements, funding information, conflicts of interest, ethics statements, data-availability information, and declarations concerning the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies.
- A separate Anonymous Manuscript has been uploaded without author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, institutional identifiers, identifying self-references, or other information that could reveal the authors’ identities.
- The properties and metadata of the anonymous manuscript file have been checked and do not contain identifying author information.
- The principal manuscript file has been prepared in an editable Microsoft Word format, preferably .docx, with continuous line numbering and consecutively numbered pages.
- The manuscript is written in clear academic English, uses consistent terminology and abbreviations, and has been checked for grammar, spelling, and presentation.
- The abstract and keywords comply with the requirements for the selected article type.
- The manuscript follows an appropriate reporting guideline, such as CONSORT, CONSORT-AI, SPIRIT, SPIRIT-AI, STROBE, PRISMA, TRIPOD+AI, STARD, DECIDE-AI, CLAIM, CARE, COREQ, SRQR, SQUIRE, CHEERS, or ARRIVE, where applicable.
- The relevant reporting checklist and flow diagram have been completed and uploaded as supplementary files where required.
- Research involving human participants, identifiable health information, biological materials, clinical records, or animals has received all necessary ethical and institutional approvals.
- The manuscript identifies the approving ethics committee or institutional review board, the approval or reference number, and the informed-consent arrangements where applicable.
- Clinical trials have been registered in a recognised public registry before enrolment of the first participant, and the registry name and registration number are reported in the manuscript.
- Written consent for publication has been obtained for identifiable personal information, clinical images, videos, case details, or other material through which an individual could reasonably be identified.
- A complete Data Availability Statement has been included, explaining whether and how supporting data, code, protocols, model documentation, prompts, or other research materials may be accessed.
- For studies involving artificial intelligence or machine learning, the manuscript adequately reports the datasets, preprocessing procedures, model architecture, training and validation methods, comparator systems, performance measures, subgroup analyses, limitations, and potential sources of bias.
- For studies involving generative AI or large language models, the model provider, model name and version, access date, prompts or prompt procedures, generation settings where available, evaluation methods, and relevant privacy safeguards have been reported.
- Any material use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation, translation, coding, data analysis, image preparation, or research design has been transparently declared.
- No artificial-intelligence system, chatbot, large language model, or automated tool has been listed as an author.
- All authors’ contributions have been described, preferably using the CRediT contributor-role taxonomy.
- All financial and non-financial conflicts of interest have been disclosed, and all funding sources and grant numbers have been reported.
- References and in-text citations follow the PSG Author–Date Citation Format and have been checked against the original sources for accuracy, completeness, DOI validity, and reference integrity.
- All digital object identifiers have been included where available, preprints have been clearly identified, and web references include an access date.
- Tables are editable, numbered consecutively, cited in the text, and accompanied by clear titles and explanatory notes.
- Figures are numbered consecutively, cited in the text, supplied at an appropriate resolution, and accompanied by complete legends.
- All image adjustments are scientifically appropriate and have not selectively enhanced, removed, obscured, or misrepresented information.
- Permission has been obtained for any copyrighted material reproduced or adapted from another source, and the required attribution has been provided.
- Any previous dissemination of the work, including a preprint, conference abstract, thesis, institutional report, dataset, or working paper, has been disclosed to the editorial office.
- A cover letter has been provided explaining the manuscript’s principal contribution, its relevance to the journal, and any ethical, legal, commercial, or editorial matters requiring disclosure.
- All supplementary files have been anonymised where necessary and checked for accuracy, confidentiality, accessibility, and legal compliance.
Submission of a manuscript constitutes confirmation that the authors accept responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of the work. The editorial office may request additional documentation or return an incomplete submission before initiating editorial review.
