About the Journal
Journal of Dance and Embodied Structure is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to the study of dance, embodied knowledge, movement structures, choreography, performance, and the cultural, spatial, and theoretical dimensions of the moving body.
The journal provides a scholarly platform for research that examines dance not only as an artistic practice, but also as a form of embodied thinking, spatial organization, cultural expression, and structural knowledge. It welcomes interdisciplinary contributions from dance studies, performance studies, theatre and movement research, somatic studies, anthropology, cultural studies, aesthetics, philosophy, education, digital humanities, and related fields.
Journal of Dance and Embodied Structure encourages research that explores the relationship between body, movement, space, rhythm, gesture, structure, and meaning. The journal is particularly interested in studies that connect theoretical analysis with choreographic practice, performance documentation, movement observation, cultural interpretation, and practice-based research.
The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, practice-based research articles, methodological notes, performance and choreographic analyses, book reviews, performance reviews, interviews, and editorials. Submissions may address historical, contemporary, intercultural, digital, pedagogical, philosophical, or practice-oriented perspectives on dance and embodied structures.
As an open-access journal, all published articles are freely available to readers worldwide. The journal is committed to editorial transparency, academic integrity, rigorous peer review, and the responsible dissemination of scholarly knowledge in the fields of dance, embodiment, and performance research.
