• The manuscript is not currently under consideration by another journal, edited volume, conference proceeding, or other publication venue.
• The manuscript does not contain plagiarized, duplicated, fabricated, or misleading content.
• Any prior dissemination of related work, including preprints, conference presentations, working papers, or performance documentation, has been clearly disclosed where applicable.

2. Relevance to the Journal

• The manuscript is relevant to the aims and scope of Journal of Dance and Embodied Structure.
• The submission contributes to one or more of the following areas: dance studies, embodied knowledge, choreography, movement structure, performance studies, somatic practice, body-space relations, movement analysis, practice-based research, or related interdisciplinary fields.
• The manuscript presents a clear scholarly argument, research question, analytical focus, or practice-based inquiry.

3. Manuscript File

• The manuscript has been prepared in Microsoft Word format.
• The file includes the manuscript title, abstract, keywords, main text, references, and all required statements where applicable.
• The manuscript is written in clear academic English.
• The text is double-spaced and uses a readable 12-point font, such as Times New Roman.
• Headings and subheadings are used consistently.
• Pages are numbered where possible.

4. Blind Review Preparation

• The manuscript file has been prepared for double-blind peer review where required.
• Author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, funding details, and other identifying information have been removed from the main manuscript file where necessary.
• Self-citations have been written in a way that does not reveal the author’s identity unnecessarily.
• File properties and document metadata have been checked and anonymized where possible.

5. Title, Abstract, and Keywords

• The title is concise, informative, and accurately reflects the manuscript’s content.
• The abstract is approximately 150–250 words.
• The abstract clearly summarizes the research purpose, approach, main argument or findings, and contribution to the field.
• The manuscript includes 4–6 keywords.
• Keywords are specific and relevant to the manuscript’s subject area, method, and theoretical focus.

6. Article Type

• The author has selected the appropriate article type during submission.
• The manuscript fits one of the journal’s accepted categories, such as Original Research Article, Review Article, Practice-Based Research Article, Methodological Note, Performance and Choreographic Analysis, Book Review, Performance Review, Interview, or Editorial.
• The manuscript length is appropriate for the selected article type.

7. References and Citation Style

• References are complete, accurate, and consistently formatted.
• The manuscript follows the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition.
• All sources cited in the text appear in the reference list or bibliography.
• All entries in the reference list or bibliography are cited in the manuscript.
• DOI links are included for references where available.
• Authors have checked the spelling of author names, publication years, titles, journal names, volume numbers, issue numbers, page ranges, and DOI information.

8. Figures, Tables, Images, and Visual Materials

• All figures, tables, images, diagrams, notation examples, screenshots, movement maps, or other visual materials are clearly numbered and titled.
• Each visual item is referred to in the main text.
• Captions are complete and include appropriate source information where necessary.
• Images and figures are submitted in sufficient resolution for online publication.
• The author has obtained permission to reproduce copyrighted photographs, performance images, archival materials, choreographic documentation, artwork, scores, diagrams, or screenshots where required.
• All third-party materials are properly credited.

9. Multimedia and External Materials

• Any video, audio, digital archive, performance documentation, motion capture data, or external media referenced in the manuscript is clearly described.
• Stable links are provided where appropriate.
• The author has ensured that external materials are legally and ethically available for scholarly use.
• Permissions and consent have been obtained for multimedia materials where required.

10. Research Ethics

• The research complies with relevant ethical standards.
• Informed consent has been obtained where the research involves interviews, fieldwork, performance documentation, human participants, communities, classroom observation, bodily participation, or personal data.
• Privacy, dignity, safety, and rights of participants have been protected.
• Special care has been taken when the research involves minors, vulnerable groups, Indigenous or local communities, culturally sensitive practices, ritual performance, unpublished artistic materials, or identifiable images of individuals.
• Institutional ethics approval information is included where applicable.
• Where formal ethics approval was not required, an appropriate statement has been provided.

11. Required Statements

Authors should include the following statements where applicable:

• Funding Statement: all sources of financial support have been disclosed.
• Conflict of Interest Statement: all potential financial, personal, professional, institutional, or artistic conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
• Ethics Statement: ethics approval, consent procedures, or exemption information has been provided where applicable.
• Data Availability Statement: the availability of research data, documentation, field notes, interview materials, coding materials, movement records, or other research materials has been explained where applicable.
• Author Contribution Statement: author roles have been described for multi-author submissions where appropriate.
• AI Use Statement: any use of artificial intelligence tools has been disclosed where applicable.

12. Artificial Intelligence Tools

• The use of artificial intelligence tools in writing, editing, translation, coding, data processing, image generation, or analysis has been disclosed where applicable.
• Artificial intelligence tools have not been listed as authors.
• The author accepts full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, citation, and ethical compliance of the submitted manuscript.
• The manuscript does not contain fabricated references, unsupported claims, manipulated images, false data, or misleading content generated by artificial intelligence tools.

13. Authorship

• All listed authors have made a substantial contribution to the manuscript.
• All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript before submission.
• The order of authors has been agreed upon by all authors.
• No person who qualifies for authorship has been omitted.
• No person who did not make a substantial contribution has been included as an author.

14. Copyright and Permissions

• The submission does not infringe the copyright, privacy rights, moral rights, or intellectual property rights of any third party.
• Permissions have been obtained for copyrighted or restricted materials where required.
• The author understands and accepts the journal’s copyright and licensing policy.
• The author has ensured that all reproduced materials are properly acknowledged.

15. Language and Academic Quality

• The manuscript has been carefully proofread before submission.
• The writing is clear, coherent, and suitable for academic publication.
• Terminology related to dance, embodiment, choreography, movement, performance, and methodology is used accurately.
• The manuscript avoids unsupported claims, excessive description, promotional language, and unclear argumentation.

• The author has entered complete and accurate metadata in the online submission system.
• Author names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID iDs, title, abstract, keywords, and references are consistent with the manuscript file.
• The corresponding author’s contact information is correct.
• All co-authors have been included in the submission system where applicable.
