The APC applies only to manuscripts that have been accepted for publication after editorial assessment and peer review, where applicable.

There is no submission fee. Authors are not required to pay any fee at the time of initial submission.

2. When the APC Is Charged

The APC is charged only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication. Payment of the APC is not required during initial submission, editorial screening, or peer review.

The ability or inability to pay the APC does not influence editorial decisions. Manuscripts are evaluated based on academic quality, originality, relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, methodological clarity, ethical compliance, and contribution to the field.

3. What the APC Covers

The APC supports the costs associated with open-access publication, including:

• Editorial administration and manuscript workflow management;
• Peer review coordination;
• Copyediting and production preparation;
• Online publication and journal platform maintenance;

4. Article Types and APC

5. Waiver and Discount Policy

Journal of Dance and Embodied Structure recognizes that authors may have different levels of institutional, regional, and financial support. Authors who do not have sufficient funding to cover the APC may apply for a waiver or discount.

Waiver or discount requests may be considered in the following circumstances:

• The author is affiliated with an institution with limited research funding;
• The author is an independent scholar, artist, choreographer, practitioner, or early career researcher without publication funding;
• The author is from a low-income or lower-middle-income country or region;
• The manuscript is invited by the Editorial Office;
• The submission makes a significant scholarly contribution but lacks financial support;
• Other special circumstances accepted by the Editorial Office.

Waiver and discount decisions are made separately from editorial decisions. Requests for waivers or discounts do not affect peer review, editorial assessment, acceptance, rejection, or publication decisions.

6. How to Apply for a Waiver or Discount

Authors who wish to apply for an APC waiver or discount should contact the Editorial Office after receiving an acceptance decision or when requested by the Editorial Office.

The request should include:

• The manuscript title;
• The corresponding author’s name and affiliation;
• A brief explanation of the reason for the waiver or discount request;
• Information about available institutional or project funding, where applicable.

The Editorial Office will review waiver and discount requests on a case-by-case basis.

7. Payment Procedure

After a manuscript has been accepted, the Editorial Office will provide payment instructions to the corresponding author. Authors should not make payment before receiving official payment instructions from the journal.

8. Taxes, Bank Charges, and Transaction Fees

The APC amount is listed as USD 500. Any additional bank charges, currency conversion fees, intermediary bank fees, wire transfer charges, payment platform fees, or other transaction-related costs are the responsibility of the author or paying institution.

The journal and publisher are not responsible for fees charged by banks, payment processors, or financial intermediaries.

9. Invoice and Receipt

Upon request, the Editorial Office may provide an invoice or payment confirmation for institutional or administrative purposes.

Authors should ensure that invoice information, including author name, institution, manuscript title, billing details, and payment amount, is accurate before payment is processed.

10. Refund Policy

Once an accepted manuscript has entered production or has been published online, the APC is normally non-refundable.

Refunds may be considered only in exceptional cases, such as duplicate payment, administrative error, or other circumstances approved by the Editorial Office.

No refund will be issued solely because an author later withdraws an accepted manuscript after production work has begun, unless otherwise approved by the Editorial Office.

11. APC and Editorial Independence

The APC has no influence on editorial decisions. Editors and reviewers evaluate manuscripts according to scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

The journal does not guarantee acceptance, expedited review, favorable review, or publication in exchange for payment.

12. Changes to APC Policy

The journal reserves the right to revise the APC amount, waiver conditions, payment procedures, or related policies. Any changes will be published on this page.

The APC applicable to a manuscript is normally the APC stated on the journal website at the time of acceptance, unless otherwise specified by the Editorial Office.
