The APC supports the publication services associated with an accepted article, including production, online publication and the administration of the article record. It is not a payment for a favourable editorial decision.
Editorial independence
Editors and reviewers assess manuscripts on scholarly and ethical grounds. Payment, funding availability and waiver requests must not determine acceptance. Authors should not make a payment to secure review or rely on a promise of guaranteed publication.
A rejected or withdrawn manuscript does not incur an APC before acceptance. If withdrawal is requested after acceptance or payment, authors should contact the Editorial Office for written clarification of the publication stage and any applicable financial arrangements before proceeding.
Invoices and financial enquiries
The applicable amount and payment details should be confirmed in official correspondence. Any tax or transaction charge that affects the total payable amount must be disclosed before payment. Authors should verify unexpected payment instructions with [email protected] and retain the invoice and correspondence.
Financial support arrangements for special issues must be stated clearly and must not alter review standards. If a waiver or discount is approved, the written approval determines the reduced amount. See Waivers & Discounts.
Open access and rights
The APC enables publication in the journal’s open-access model. Authors retain copyright and the article is published under CC BY 4.0, subject to clearly identified exclusions for third-party material. Read the Open Access and Copyright & Licensing policies before completing the publication arrangements.
