Publisher and editorial office

The publisher administers the publishing platform, production arrangements and publication-related services. The Editorial Office coordinates manuscript correspondence and the implementation of the journal’s published policies. The current editorial membership and affiliations should be consulted on the Editorial Board page.

Separation of responsibilities

Editorial assessment concerns the relevance, quality, integrity and clarity of a manuscript. Financial administration, requests for discounts, sponsorship and institutional relationships must not determine acceptance or the wording of research findings. A person with a material conflict should not control the review or decision for the affected submission.

Editors’ own submissions and manuscripts involving close collaborators, employers or other significant relationships require handling by an independent editor. Guest editors work within the same journal policies and do not have authority to waive ethical requirements or guarantee acceptance.

Financial transparency

The standard article processing charge is USD 400 per accepted article. The APCs page explains the charging stage and the Waivers & Discounts page describes requests for financial consideration. Authors should obtain a written statement of the applicable charge before payment.

Any sponsored collection or externally supported initiative should disclose the support and explain the separation between sponsorship and editorial assessment. A sponsor’s involvement in a particular study must also be disclosed in that article.

Accountability and enquiries

Questions about journal management, ownership disclosures or an apparent conflict between practice and a published policy should be directed to the Editorial Office. Editorial decision appeals and complaints about process follow the Complaints & Appeals policy. Concerns involving an editor should be identified so that the matter can be assigned outside the disputed relationship.
