JPOII publishes accepted articles as open access under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), with copyright retained by the authors.

Access to published research

Published journal articles are available to readers without a subscription or reader access charge. Open access supports scrutiny of research findings and access across academic, professional and public communities. Readers may use the published version in accordance with the licence attached to the article.

The journal’s open-access model does not remove requirements for careful evidence, ethical research or independent peer review. Payment of an article processing charge does not establish scholarly quality or guarantee acceptance.

Reuse and attribution

Under CC BY 4.0, users may share and adapt licensed material, including for commercial purposes, subject to the licence conditions. Reuse must credit the creators, provide the licence link and indicate changes. Attribution must not imply that the authors or journal endorse the reuse.

Third-party images, tables, documents or other material may be excluded from the article’s licence by a credit line. Users are responsible for checking such exclusions and obtaining any additional permission needed. The article licence does not override privacy, confidentiality or other rights that may apply to the underlying material.

Author sharing and repositories

Authors may deposit the published version of their article in an institutional or subject repository and share it through personal or professional channels. The deposit should identify the version, retain the copyright and licence information, and link to the journal’s article record and persistent identifier where assigned.

Preprints and earlier working papers should be disclosed at submission. If the work is accepted, authors should update the earlier record to identify the published version. Repository deposits must respect any restrictions affecting third-party or sensitive research material.

Publication charges

The standard APC is USD 400 per accepted article. No fee is charged for submission or peer review. Financial enquiries and waiver requests are handled separately from scholarly assessment. See APCs, Waivers & Discounts and Copyright & Licensing for the full terms.
