Copyright & Licensing
Authors retain copyright in their JPOII articles. Published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0).
Author rights and publication permission
Authors grant the journal the permission necessary to publish and identify the article as part of the journal’s scholarly record. Copyright remains with the authors. Authors must have the rights and permissions required for the submitted text, figures, tables, quotations and supplementary materials.
All authors must approve publication and the applicable licence. Material owned by another rights holder requires an appropriate permission or another valid basis for use. Identify any third-party material whose terms differ from the article licence in a clear credit line.
What CC BY 4.0 permits
CC BY 4.0 permits sharing and adaptation, including commercial reuse, provided its conditions are met. Users must give appropriate credit, link to the licence and indicate changes. They must not suggest endorsement or impose additional restrictions inconsistent with the licence.
The licence governs copyright reuse of the licensed material. It does not supply consent to expose a participant, remove confidentiality obligations or authorize use of separately protected records. Users must check credit lines and other applicable rights.
Deposits and reuse of an author’s work
Authors may share and deposit the published article, retaining the title, authorship, journal citation and licence information and linking to the journal record. When reusing an article or a substantial part of it in another work, identify the earlier publication and any changes. Open licensing does not justify presenting previously published research as a new original contribution.
Where a correction or retraction affects the article, shared copies should link to the relevant notice. Version information should enable readers to identify the authoritative published record.
Permissions enquiries
Questions about a published article’s licence or a missing credit line may be sent to [email protected]. Requests involving third-party material should be directed to its rights holder when that material is excluded from the article licence. See Open Access for access and sharing information.
