The above flow is an indicative timeline. Some manuscripts may move faster, while others may require additional review, extended revision, or further ethical and technical checks.

4. What May Extend the Timeline /

The review and publication timeline may be extended when additional checks, reviews, revisions, or clarifications are required.

  • The manuscript is incomplete or missing required files, metadata, or declarations;
  • The manuscript is not properly anonymized for double-blind review;
  • The topic requires highly specialized reviewers;
  • Invited reviewers decline or are unavailable;
  • Reviewer reports conflict and an additional review is needed;
  • Major revision is required;
  • Ethics approval, informed consent, data protection, funding, conflict of interest, or AI-use statements require clarification;
  • Similarity screening suggests possible plagiarism, duplicate publication, or excessive textual overlap;
  • Tables, figures, references, data, legal materials, or supplementary files require correction;
  • Production, proofreading, metadata, or issue assignment requires additional verification.

5. What Authors Can Do to Avoid Delay /

Complete Files /

Submit the anonymized manuscript, title page, declarations, tables, figures, and supplementary materials where required.

Proper Anonymization /

Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, funding details, file properties, comments, and identifying metadata.

Ethics and Declarations /

Provide ethics approval, consent, data availability, funding, conflict of interest, and AI-use statements where applicable.

Reference Accuracy /

Ensure that all in-text citations and references follow APA 7 and that every cited source is complete and verifiable.

6. Revision Timeline /

If revision is requested, the time required depends on the extent of revision and the author’s response. Authors should submit the revised manuscript within the deadline stated in the decision letter or contact the editorial office before the deadline if more time is needed.

A revision submission should normally include:

  • A clean revised manuscript;
  • A marked or tracked-changes version where requested;
  • A point-by-point response letter;
  • A clear explanation of how each reviewer and editor comment has been addressed;
  • Updated ethics, data, funding, conflict of interest, AI-use, or reference information where applicable;
  • A fully anonymized revised file if the manuscript remains under double-blind review.
