At the same time, the journal requires that all use of artificial intelligence be transparent, responsible, ethical, and consistent with academic integrity.

Artificial intelligence tools may be used to support scholarly work, but they cannot replace the author’s responsibility for originality, accuracy, interpretation, argumentation, evidence, citation, ethical compliance, and final manuscript content.

For the purpose of this policy, artificial intelligence tools include, but are not limited to, generative AI systems, large language models, machine translation systems, AI-assisted writing tools, grammar correction tools, image generation tools, coding assistants, data analysis tools, reference-generation tools, and automated summarization systems.

Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors, co-authors, corresponding authors, contributors, or guarantors of a manuscript.

Authorship is limited to human contributors who meet the journal’s authorship criteria and can take responsibility for the integrity, originality, accuracy, and ethical compliance of the work.
