The Journal of Law, Psychology, and Communication Studies (JLPCS) requires transparent, responsible, and ethical use of artificial intelligence tools in manuscript preparation, research reporting, editorial handling, and peer review.

1. Purpose of the Policy / 政策目的

This policy explains how JLPCS regulates the use of generative AI, large language models, machine translation tools, AI-assisted editing tools, automated coding tools, image generators, transcription tools, and other AI-assisted systems in relation to manuscripts and peer review.

The policy aims to protect research integrity, authorship accountability, data accuracy, participant privacy, copyright compliance, peer review confidentiality, and the reliability of the published scholarly record.

本政策说明 JLPCS 如何规范生成式 AI、大语言模型、机器翻译工具、AI 辅助编辑工具、自动化编码工具、图像生成工具、转录工具及其他 AI 辅助系统在稿件和同行评议相关环节中的使用。本政策旨在保护研究诚信、作者责任、数据准确性、受试者隐私、版权合规、同行评议保密性和已发表学术记录的可靠性。

2. Scope of Application / 适用范围

This policy applies to all authors, reviewers, editors, guest editors, editorial staff, contributors, copyeditors, translators, and any third-party service providers involved in manuscript preparation, editorial assessment, peer review, production, or publication.

This policy covers AI use in:

  • Manuscript drafting, rewriting, translation, language polishing, or grammar correction;
  • Literature organization, summarization, idea mapping, outline generation, or reference checking;
  • Data cleaning, coding, transcription, classification, statistical assistance, or qualitative analysis support;
  • Image, figure, table, chart, diagram, or visual material generation or editing;
  • Legal source retrieval, case summarization, policy analysis, or document comparison;
  • Editorial screening, reviewer assistance, peer review, reviewer report preparation, and manuscript decision-making.

本政策适用于与稿件准备、编辑评估、同行评议、制作和出版相关的所有 AI 使用场景。

3. Core Principles / 核心原则

Transparency / 透明

Substantive AI use must be disclosed clearly and accurately in the manuscript or declaration file.

Accountability / 问责

Authors remain fully responsible for all AI-assisted content, claims, citations, data, images, and conclusions.

Integrity / 诚信

AI must not be used to fabricate data, sources, references, legal materials, interviews, or research findings.

Confidentiality / 保密

Confidential manuscripts, peer review materials, and sensitive data must not be uploaded to external AI tools.

4. AI Is Not an Author / AI 不得作为作者

AI tools, chatbots, large language models, automated writing systems, image generators, translation engines, or software agents cannot be listed as authors or co-authors in JLPCS submissions.

  • AI systems cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, ethics, consent, or legal compliance of scholarly work;
  • AI systems cannot approve a submitted or published version of a manuscript;
  • AI systems cannot disclose conflicts of interest, funding, permissions, or ethical obligations;
  • Human authors must verify, revise, and take responsibility for all AI-assisted content;
  • Authorship credit must be limited to human contributors who meet JLPCS authorship criteria.

AI 工具不得作为作者或共同作者。只有符合 JLPCS 作者资格标准、能够承担学术责任和伦理责任的人类贡献者,才可列为作者。

5. Permitted AI Use by Authors / 作者可接受的 AI 使用

Authors may use AI tools in limited and responsible ways, provided that such use is disclosed where substantive, verified by the authors, and does not compromise originality, accuracy, confidentiality, ethics, or copyright compliance.

Permitted uses may include:

  • Grammar correction, spelling correction, formatting assistance, or language polishing;
  • Translation support, provided the authors verify accuracy and meaning;
  • Literature organization, note management, outline drafting, or idea structuring;
  • Code debugging, data cleaning assistance, transcription support, or statistical workflow assistance;
  • Generating preliminary summaries for internal author use, provided all sources are verified;
  • Improving readability of author-written text without replacing scholarly judgment;
  • Creating visual drafts or diagrams, provided the final content is accurate, original, permitted, and disclosed where applicable.

作者可在有限、透明且可核查的范围内使用 AI 辅助语言、翻译、整理、编码或分析流程,但不得用 AI 取代作者的学术判断、数据真实性和伦理责任。

6. Prohibited AI Use by Authors / 作者禁止的 AI 使用

AI tools must not be used in ways that compromise research integrity, publication ethics, confidentiality, copyright, data protection, or scholarly accountability.

Authors must not use AI to:

  • Generate, fabricate, alter, or falsify research data, legal materials, case facts, interviews, survey responses, experimental results, images, screenshots, or findings;
  • Create fake references, fake DOIs, fake legal citations, fake cases, fake policies, fake statutes, or unverifiable source details;
  • Produce fabricated quotations, participant statements, interview transcripts, field notes, or psychological assessment results;
  • Paraphrase another source to conceal plagiarism or inappropriate text recycling;
  • Generate analysis that the authors cannot verify, explain, reproduce, or defend;
  • Upload confidential, personal, sensitive, unpublished, legally protected, or restricted data to external AI tools without permission and safeguards;
  • Generate defamatory, discriminatory, misleading, unlawful, or ethically harmful content;
  • Replace required human judgment in legal interpretation, psychological assessment, communication analysis, or ethical evaluation.

作者不得使用 AI 伪造数据、案例、法律材料、访谈、问卷、图像、参考文献或研究结论,也不得通过 AI 改写掩盖抄袭或不当重复使用。

7. Disclosure Requirements / 披露要求

Authors must disclose substantive use of generative AI tools in the Methods, Acknowledgments, or a dedicated AI Use Statement. The disclosure should be specific enough for editors, reviewers, and readers to understand how AI was used.

The disclosure should include:

  • Name and version of the AI tool, where available;
  • Purpose of use, such as language editing, translation, coding assistance, transcription, summarization, or figure drafting;
  • Parts of the manuscript or research workflow affected by AI use;
  • Whether the AI output was checked, revised, and verified by human authors;
  • Whether any confidential, personal, sensitive, or restricted data were involved;
  • Confirmation that AI was not used to generate data, references, evidence, or research findings.

任何实质性 AI 使用均应披露。仅使用拼写检查或常规语法检查,一般不需要详细披露;但涉及内容生成、翻译、摘要、编码、转录、分析或图像生成时,应进行明确说明。

8. Sample AI Use Statements / AI 使用声明示例

Language Editing:

The author(s) used [Tool Name, Version] for language editing and grammar correction. The author(s) reviewed and revised all AI-assisted output and take full responsibility for the final content.

Translation Support:

The author(s) used [Tool Name, Version] to assist with translation. The translation was checked and revised by the author(s) to ensure accuracy, meaning, terminology, and citation integrity.

Data Processing Assistance:

The author(s) used [Tool Name, Version] to assist with [coding/transcription/data cleaning]. No AI tool was used to generate data or research findings. All outputs were verified by the author(s).

No AI Use:

The author(s) declare that no generative AI tool was used in the preparation of this manuscript.

中文稿件可使用中文 AI 使用声明。作者应根据真实情况修改示例,不得作出不准确或不可核查的声明。

9. AI and Data Integrity / AI 与数据诚信

AI must not be used to create or manipulate research data in a way that misrepresents evidence. Authors must preserve the distinction between original data, derived data, AI-assisted processing, and interpretive analysis.

  • AI-assisted transcription, coding, classification, translation, or summarization must be checked by the authors;
  • AI-assisted statistical code or computational workflow must be verifiable and explainable;
  • Authors should report AI involvement in data processing when it materially affects methods or interpretation;
  • Raw data, participant information, legal files, confidential records, or restricted datasets must be protected;
  • AI-generated synthetic data must be identified as synthetic and must not be presented as observed empirical data;
  • AI-assisted analysis must not be used to support claims that the authors cannot verify.

AI 可辅助转录、编码、翻译或数据清理,但作者必须核查输出,并清楚说明 AI 在数据处理中的作用。AI 生成的合成数据不得冒充真实观察数据。

10. AI, References, and Legal Sources / AI、参考文献与法律来源

AI tools may generate inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or fabricated references and legal citations. Authors must verify every source before submission.

Authors must verify:

  • Journal articles, books, book chapters, reports, conference papers, and datasets;
  • DOIs, URLs, page ranges, volume numbers, issue numbers, and publication years;
  • Cases, statutes, regulations, treaties, policies, official documents, and administrative materials;
  • Chinese-language sources, translated sources, legal databases, and institutional documents;
  • Whether cited sources actually support the claims made in the manuscript;
  • Whether AI-generated summaries misrepresent the source content.

作者不得提交由 AI 生成且未经核实的参考文献、DOI、法律案例、法规、政策文件或网页来源。虚构文献或虚假法律来源可能构成研究诚信问题。

11. AI-Generated Images, Tables, and Figures / AI 生成图像、表格与图形

Any AI-generated or AI-assisted image, table, figure, diagram, chart, screenshot, or visual material must be accurate, ethically permissible, legally usable, and clearly disclosed where applicable.

  • AI-generated visuals must not misrepresent data, evidence, legal materials, participants, screenshots, documents, or research findings;
  • Images of real persons, participants, minors, private spaces, legal records, or sensitive materials require special ethical and permission checks;
  • AI must not be used to alter images or screenshots in a misleading way;
  • Authors must confirm that visuals do not infringe third-party copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or platform terms;
  • Figures based on AI-assisted data analysis should be traceable to verified data and methods;
  • Captions should identify AI-generated or AI-assisted visuals where relevant.

AI 生成或 AI 辅助制作的图像、图表和视觉材料不得误导读者,不得伪造证据,不得侵犯隐私、版权或保密义务,并应在适用情况下披露。

12. Confidentiality and Sensitive Data / 保密性与敏感数据

Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial staff must not upload confidential, personal, sensitive, unpublished, restricted, or legally protected materials to external AI tools unless such use is permitted by consent, law, ethics approval, institutional rules, and data protection requirements.

Protected materials may include:

  • Unpublished manuscripts, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and peer review files;
  • Participant data, interview transcripts, survey responses, psychological test results, recordings, images, or field notes;
  • Personal information, sensitive information, minor-related data, institutional records, and social media data;
  • Confidential legal files, court documents, administrative records, platform data, commercial data, or restricted archives;
  • Copyrighted third-party material, licensed datasets, proprietary code, or materials subject to nondisclosure obligations.

未经适当授权,不得将保密稿件、审稿材料、个人数据、敏感数据、法律文件、机构资料或未发表材料上传至外部 AI 系统。

13. AI Use by Reviewers / 审稿人使用 AI

Peer reviewers must not upload, copy, summarize, translate, analyze, or process submitted manuscripts, supplementary files, data, figures, tables, reviewer comments, or editorial communications using generative AI tools or external AI systems.

  • Submitted manuscripts and review materials are confidential;
  • Reviewers must not use AI tools to generate reviewer reports or recommendations;
  • Reviewers must not use AI tools to identify authors under double-blind review;
  • Reviewers must not use AI-assisted analysis that exposes confidential manuscript content to third parties;
  • Reviewers remain responsible for independent expert judgment and professional review comments;
  • If a reviewer has confidentiality or technical questions, they should contact the editorial office before using any external tool.

审稿人不得将投稿稿件、补充材料、数据、图表、审稿意见或编辑通信上传至生成式 AI 工具或外部 AI 系统。审稿意见必须由审稿人基于独立专业判断完成。

14. AI Use by Editors and Editorial Staff / 编辑与编辑部使用 AI

Editors and editorial staff must protect confidentiality, editorial independence, author privacy, reviewer anonymity, and research integrity when handling manuscripts. AI tools must not be used in ways that disclose confidential content or replace editorial responsibility.

  • Editors must not upload confidential manuscripts, review reports, decision letters, or author data to external AI tools;
  • AI must not make editorial decisions, reviewer selections, acceptance decisions, rejection decisions, or research integrity determinations;
  • AI may not replace human assessment of scope, method, ethics, contribution, originality, or legal/psychological/communication scholarship;
  • Editorial use of technical tools must comply with confidentiality, data protection, and journal policy;
  • Any AI-assisted editorial workflow must remain under human editorial supervision and accountability.

编辑和编辑部不得使用 AI 替代编辑判断或泄露稿件保密内容。录用、拒稿、退修、撤稿、关注声明和研究诚信处理均须由具备责任主体的人类编辑完成。

15. AI, Plagiarism, and Text Recycling / AI、抄袭与文本重复使用

AI-assisted writing, paraphrasing, summarization, translation, or rewriting does not remove the obligation to cite sources. Authors must not use AI to disguise plagiarism, duplicate publication, excessive text recycling, or unattributed use of prior work.

  • AI paraphrasing of another source still requires proper citation;
  • AI translation of another source without attribution may constitute translation plagiarism;
  • AI-generated summaries may reproduce source ideas and must be checked against original sources;
  • AI-assisted rewriting of the authors’ prior publications may still constitute inappropriate text recycling if not disclosed;
  • Similarity screening and editorial judgment may be applied to AI-assisted manuscripts;
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that AI-assisted text is original, accurate, and properly sourced.

AI 改写、翻译或摘要并不会消除引用义务。使用 AI 掩盖抄袭、翻译抄袭、一稿多投或不当文本重复使用,可能导致拒稿、撤稿或其他编辑措施。

16. Methodological Reporting of AI Use / AI 使用的方法报告

When AI tools are part of the research method or analysis workflow, authors should report them with sufficient detail for scholarly evaluation and, where possible, reproducibility.

Reports should include, where applicable:

  • Tool name, provider, model, version, date of use, and settings;
  • Purpose of AI use and its role in the research workflow;
  • Input type, output type, and human verification process;
  • Prompting strategy, coding procedure, classification rules, or validation method where relevant;
  • How errors, hallucinations, bias, uncertainty, or inconsistency were checked;
  • Whether confidential, personal, sensitive, or restricted data were excluded, anonymized, or protected;
  • Limitations of AI-assisted methods and implications for interpretation.

当 AI 是研究方法的一部分时,作者应说明工具名称、版本、用途、输入输出、人工核查、偏差控制和限制条件,而不能仅笼统写“使用 AI 辅助分析”。

17. Editorial Assessment and Possible Actions / 编辑评估与可能措施

JLPCS may request clarification, revision, documentation, or additional declarations when AI use is unclear, undisclosed, excessive, methodologically unsupported, or raises ethical or research integrity concerns.

Possible editorial actions include:

  • Requesting an AI Use Statement or revised disclosure;
  • Requesting clarification of AI-assisted methods, data handling, references, figures, or translations;
  • Returning the manuscript for revision before peer review;
  • Pausing review, production, or publication while concerns are assessed;
  • Rejecting a manuscript when AI use compromises originality, data integrity, confidentiality, ethics, or scholarly reliability;
  • Issuing a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other notice after publication where AI-related problems affect the scholarly record;
  • Notifying relevant institutions or parties where serious misconduct is suspected.

如 AI 使用未披露、无法核查、涉及伪造、泄露保密信息或影响研究可靠性,JLPCS 可要求说明、退修、暂停处理、拒稿或采取出版后措施。
