Repository Policy
Repository Policy
The Journal of Law, Psychology, and Communication Studies (JLPCS) supports responsible repository deposit, author self-archiving, metadata sharing, and long-term discoverability of published scholarly work.
1. Purpose of the Policy /
This policy explains how authors, institutions, libraries, repositories, funders, and readers may deposit, archive, share, and cite JLPCS articles and related materials.
The policy supports open access dissemination, author rights, institutional repository compliance, metadata accuracy, long-term preservation, and responsible reuse of scholarly content.
2. General Repository Principle /
JLPCS permits and encourages authors to deposit the final published version of their article in appropriate repositories, provided that the official JLPCS publication is clearly cited and the applicable license is retained.
- Authors retain copyright of their published work;
- Published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0);
- Authors grant JLPCS the right of first publication;
- The final published version may be deposited and shared with proper attribution;
- Repository deposits should link to or cite the official JLPCS version of record;
- Third-party materials, privacy, confidentiality, legal restrictions, and ethical obligations must be respected.
3. Versions That May Be Deposited /
4. Embargo Policy /
JLPCS does not impose an embargo on repository deposit of the final published version of record. Authors may deposit the published version immediately after publication, provided that the official citation and license information are included.
- No embargo applies to the final published JLPCS version under CC BY 4.0;
- Repository records should cite the published JLPCS article;
- Repository records should include DOI or article link where available;
- Repository records should retain the CC BY 4.0 license notice;
- Repository records should not remove correction, retraction, expression of concern, or editorial notice information where applicable;
- Repository deposit must respect third-party material restrictions and legal obligations.
5. Permitted Repository Locations /
Authors may deposit JLPCS published articles in scholarly, institutional, educational, or professional repositories that preserve citation and licensing information.
Permitted locations may include:
- Institutional repositories;
- Subject or disciplinary repositories;
- Funder-designated repositories;
- University, department, research center, or project websites;
- Personal academic websites and scholarly profiles;
- Library preservation systems;
- Non-commercial educational platforms;
- Open access platforms that preserve attribution, license, and version information.
6. Required Repository Citation /
Repository records should clearly identify the JLPCS article as the official published version or should clearly state when the deposited file is a preprint, submitted version, or accepted manuscript.
Repository metadata should normally include:
- Author name(s);
- Article title;
- Journal title: Journal of Law, Psychology, and Communication Studies;
- Publication year, volume, issue, page range or article number where available;
- DOI or stable JLPCS article link where available;
- Version label, such as published version, accepted manuscript, preprint, or supplementary material;
- License statement: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), where applicable;
- Statement indicating whether the deposited file has been corrected, updated, translated, adapted, or excerpted.
7. Preprints, Working Papers, and Prior Dissemination /
JLPCS recognizes that some authors may share earlier versions of their work as preprints, working papers, conference papers, thesis chapters, reports, or institutional drafts. Such prior dissemination should be disclosed at submission where relevant.
- Earlier versions should not be presented as the final JLPCS published version;
- Preprint or working paper records should be updated after publication with the JLPCS citation and DOI or article link where available;
- Authors should ensure that prior dissemination does not breach copyright, confidentiality, funder, institutional, legal, or third-party obligations;
- Substantial overlap with a prior version should be disclosed to the editorial office;
- Prior dissemination does not remove the need for originality, citation, ethics, data, and authorship compliance;
- Duplicate publication or simultaneous submission remains prohibited.
8. Data, Code, and Supplementary Repositories /
Authors may deposit research data, code, instruments, appendices, search strategies, legal source lists, coding schemes, or supplementary materials in suitable repositories when such deposit is ethically, legally, and technically appropriate.
- Repository records should be cited in the article’s Data Availability Statement where applicable;
- Deposited files should include clear documentation, README files, variable descriptions, codebooks, or reuse conditions where needed;
- Confidential, personal, sensitive, restricted, legally protected, or third-party data should not be deposited without permission and safeguards;
- Human participant data should be deposited only when consistent with consent, ethics approval, privacy protection, and data protection obligations;
- Legal files, court materials, administrative records, platform data, or commercial data may require access restrictions or permission;
- Authors remain responsible for repository accuracy, permissions, and compliance.
9. Third-Party Materials and Restrictions /
Repository deposit must respect third-party rights and restrictions. Not all materials included in an article or supplementary file may be covered by the article’s open access license.
Restricted materials may include:
- Images, photographs, screenshots, maps, tables, charts, figures, or audiovisual materials owned by third parties;
- Survey instruments, psychological scales, datasets, code, software, or licensed materials;
- Legal documents, court records, administrative records, institutional records, or commercial materials subject to access restrictions;
- Platform data, social media content, user-generated content, or private communications;
- Personal data, sensitive data, children’s data, participant quotations, transcripts, recordings, or identifiable information;
- Materials subject to confidentiality, nondisclosure agreements, copyright, data protection, or local legal restrictions.
10. Corrections, Retractions, and Version Status /
Repository records should preserve accurate publication status. If a JLPCS article is corrected, retracted, or subject to an expression of concern, repository records should be updated where possible.
- Corrected articles should link to the correction notice where available;
- Retracted articles should be clearly marked as retracted and should link to the retraction notice where available;
- Expressions of concern should be linked or noted while the concern remains unresolved;
- Repository managers should avoid displaying outdated files as if they were the current version of record;
- Authors should update personal, institutional, and subject repository records when publication status changes;
- Users should not redistribute outdated, corrected, or retracted files without identifying their status.
11. Repository Metadata and Interoperability /
Repository records should maintain accurate metadata to support discovery, citation, indexing workflows, institutional reporting, and long-term preservation.
- Repository metadata should match the official JLPCS article page where possible;
- DOI, article URL, journal title, ISSN, publication date, and license should be included where available;
- Author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, abstract, keywords, and funding information should be accurate;
- Repository records should distinguish article files from supplementary files, datasets, code, and preprints;
- Repository metadata should not claim indexing status, impact metrics, or database inclusion unless officially verified;
- Repository managers may use JLPCS DOI, metadata, and OAI-PMH information where technically supported.
12. Commercial Platforms and Academic Networks /
Authors may share JLPCS published articles on academic networks or professional platforms where the platform terms are compatible with CC BY 4.0, author rights, third-party material restrictions, and publication ethics.
- Authors should retain the full citation and license notice when sharing files;
- Authors should avoid uploading files if platform terms conflict with third-party permissions or confidentiality obligations;
- Authors should not allow platforms to alter article content in a misleading way;
- Authors should link to the official JLPCS version of record where possible;
- Authors should remove or update shared versions if the article is corrected, retracted, or subject to an expression of concern;
- Sharing should not imply endorsement by JLPCS, the publisher, reviewers, or editorial board.
13. Prohibited or Misleading Repository Practices /
Repository deposit should not mislead readers, compromise ethics, or distort the publication record.
The following practices are not acceptable:
- Removing the article title, author names, journal title, DOI, license, or citation information;
- Presenting a preprint or accepted manuscript as the final published JLPCS version;
- Uploading confidential peer review files, editorial correspondence, reviewer comments, or unpublished manuscript materials;
- Depositing personal, sensitive, confidential, restricted, or third-party data without permission;
- Claiming database indexing, ranking, impact factor, or archiving status that has not been officially verified;
- Distributing a corrected, retracted, or outdated version without noting its status;
- Using repository deposits to support plagiarism, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, or misleading publication records.
14. Responsibilities of Authors /
Authors are responsible for ensuring that repository deposits are accurate, properly cited, ethically appropriate, and consistent with JLPCS policies.
- Deposit the correct version and label it accurately;
- Include full citation, DOI or article link, journal title, and CC BY 4.0 license information;
- Update repository records after publication if an earlier version was deposited;
- Update repository records after correction, retraction, or expression of concern where applicable;
- Remove or restrict confidential, personal, sensitive, or unauthorized third-party materials;
- Check repository, funder, institutional, copyright, privacy, and legal requirements before deposit;
- Contact the JLPCS Editorial Office when uncertain about repository deposit or version status.
15. Responsibilities of Repositories and Libraries /
Repositories, libraries, and institutional systems are encouraged to preserve accurate metadata and stable links to the official JLPCS version of record.
- Preserve citation, DOI, article URL, license, and version information;
- Use clear version labels for preprints, accepted manuscripts, and published versions;
- Link to the official JLPCS article page where available;
- Update records when corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or article metadata changes occur;
- Respect third-party material restrictions, privacy, confidentiality, and data protection obligations;
- Avoid adding unverified indexing, ranking, or metric claims;
- Report broken links, metadata errors, or publication status inconsistencies to the JLPCS Editorial Office.
16. Repository Deposit Checklist /

Important Note /
JLPCS permits immediate repository deposit of the final published version under CC BY 4.0 with proper citation to the official JLPCS article. Repository deposit must not misrepresent version status, remove attribution, disclose confidential materials, violate third-party rights, or imply unverified indexing or archiving status.
